A Simple Idea You Can Use Tomorrow
Sometimes the best marketing ideas are the ones that are quick, thoughtful, and useful.
This one came together in less than 24 hours - and it ended up being a great example of how small gestures can leave a lasting impression.
A Little Background
Our family sponsors a local organization in our community called Young Life.
We also host the high school kids at our house every Thursday night. If you follow my Instagram at all, you might remember that a couple of years ago I posted a quick video of the kids in our pool — nothing fancy, just a moment from the night — and somehow it went completely viral.
Like 2 million views viral.
Which just goes to show… you truly never know what will hit on social media. 😅
If you’re not familiar with Young Life, it’s a parachurch ministry focused on reaching middle school and high school students, meeting them where they are and introducing them to a life with Christ through mentorship, community, and relationships.
It has been an incredible blessing to our kids, and our family believes deeply in the mission of loving God and loving others.
So this year we were honored to be one of the main sponsors for their annual banquet.
The Last-Minute Marketing Idea
The day before the banquet, we got a call that another sponsor planned to place something at each seat during the event.
We thought that was a great idea — and we wanted to do something similar.
So my marketing manager jumped into high gear and we started brainstorming:
What would actually be useful at a banquet?
The answer came pretty quickly.
A mint.

Simple, Useful, Memorable
We quickly designed a small card and had a local printer produce 200 copies.
Then we got to work attaching a LifeSaver mint to each one using glue dots.
Simple. Fast. And surprisingly effective.
Why This Kind of Marketing Works
This idea worked because it checked a few important boxes:
- useful in the moment
- thoughtful but not over the top
- easy to distribute
- memorable without feeling salesy
Sometimes the best marketing ideas are simply small gestures done well.
Steal This Idea (Template + Supplies)
If you want to try this idea yourself, we made it easy.
We’re sharing the exact Canva template we used, so you can customize it with your own branding.

Just swap in your logo, update the colors to match your brand kit, and you’re ready to print.
We also created a quick Amazon supply list with the items we used to assemble them.

Here’s what we used:
- LifeSaver mints
- glue dots
- cardstock for printing
That’s it.
Quick, inexpensive, and surprisingly memorable.
Other Ways You Could Use This Idea
The great thing about a concept like this is that it works in lots of situations.
For example:
- quick pop-bys for past clients
- something simple to leave behind at an open house
- a small event giveaway
- a thoughtful client touchpoint
It’s inexpensive, easy to assemble, and people actually use it.
Which is always the goal.
The Takeaway
Marketing doesn’t always need to be complicated.
Sometimes it’s just about showing up thoughtfully.
And this little mint idea was a perfect example of that.
