Who is your ideal client (really)?
Clarity first - before logos, boxes, or swag
When I started working with Crème Brands, one of the very first things we did had nothing to do with logos, colors, fonts, or Instagram.
We started here:
Who is your ideal client?
And before you ask - yes, I had the same reaction you probably just did.
Because if you know me at all, you know this is true:
I work with everyone.
I've sold homes from Elizabethtown to Charlestown (that's Kentucky to Indiana - and over an hour apart, for those not local).
From multi-million-dollar homes to townhouses in the south end.
I've helped doctors, widows, factory workers, writers, first-time buyers, and longtime homeowners.
And I'm genuinely honored to help anyone who needs guidance.
So why even talk about an “ideal client”?
Because ideal doesn't mean exclusive…
This exercise was never about who I won't work with.
It was about clarity.
Crème helped me slow down and look at patterns:
• who felt easy to work with
• who trusted the process
• who valued my advice
• who appreciated my sense of humor and directness
• who felt aligned, fun, and mutual
• who felt easy to work with
• who trusted the process
• who valued my advice
• who appreciated my sense of humor and directness
• who felt aligned, fun, and mutual
And they also had me look at the opposite:
• which clients drained my energy
• where communication broke down
• where expectations were misaligned
• which clients drained my energy
• where communication broke down
• where expectations were misaligned
That part was uncomfortable - but eye-opening. Because let's be honest… who wants to revisit the moments in our business that felt heavy, hurtful, or just plain not fun?
Here's what surprised me most…
My ideal client feels a lot like… me.
Someone who:
• came from very little
• worked hard to get where they are
• values a dollar, not because they're cheap - but because they understand effort
• appreciates honesty, clarity, and confidence
• can laugh, trust, and move forward without unnecessary drama
That doesn't mean I only work with people like this.
It means when I do - the work feels better.
Cleaner.
Easier.
More aligned.
Cleaner.
Easier.
More aligned.
And it also means my branding feels like me - which naturally attracts clients who value the way I work, communicate, and show up.
And this matters more than you think…
I know you're ready for the fun stuff.
The boxes.
The raving fan gifts.
The swag bags.
The branding moments everyone sees on Instagram.
The raving fan gifts.
The swag bags.
The branding moments everyone sees on Instagram.
But if you don't start with the foundational building blocks -
we aren't actually building the empire you want to build.
we aren't actually building the empire you want to build.
We're just decorating it.
One more thing I want to say out loud…
I've been actively building this business since early 2020.
That's six years of digging into the minutia.
Six years of refining, adjusting, repeating, and doing it again.
Six years of testing what works, what doesn't, and why.
What you see today didn't happen quickly.
And it definitely didn't happen by accident.
And it definitely didn't happen by accident.
There aren't shortcuts here - I promise.
But there is clarity, consistency, and momentum when you're willing to do the foundational work first.
And that's exactly what we're doing now.
Who are your easiest, favorite clients to work with - and why?
Sometimes saying it out loud is the first step to real clarity.
